Research area
Hugo is currently focused on identifying early-warning biomarkers for paediatric sepsis and generating a data-driven definition of sepsis, as well as exploring data imputation in spinal cord injury datasets. Furthermore, he maintains a strong interest to improve communication and collaboration between medical professionals and data scientists, streamlining the pipeline from data collection to data-based breakthroughs.

Hugo is a second-year PhD candidate in the Biomedical Data Science lab, forming part of the core members of the paediatric sepsis unit. With a background in Molecular Biology (BSc University of Edinburgh) and Computational Biology (MSc ETH Zürich), he has a clear goal of combining data science with medical and omics data.
