Foundation of the Biomedical Data Science (BMDS) lab at ETH

We are thrilled to announce the launch of our lab's new LinkedIn page! Stay connected with us for engaging posts and exciting announcements.

The Biomedical Data Science (BMDS) lab at the ETH Zürich is a dynamic interdisciplinary research team working at the intersection of medicine, data science, and biology. We are located at the external page Schulthess Klinik and are affiliated with the Department of Health Sciences and Technology (D-HEST), ETH Zürich.

Our research aims to identify causes, risk factors, and biomarkers of disease progression. At the core of our research is a series of prospective and retrospective investigations that integrate genetic, biochemical, clinical assessments and medication history with both traditional epidemiological approaches and machine-learning algorithms. Currently, we are doing research in the fields of spinal cord injury, paediatric oncology, lower back pain and infectious diseases (e.g. sepsis in children and adults).

Prof. Dr. Catherine Jutzeler has held an ETH Tenure Track Assistant Professorship of Biomedical Data Science in the Department of Health Sciences and Technology (D-HEST), ETH Zürich as part of the ETH Rehab Initiative since January 2022 and is head of our lab. The Wilhelm Schulthess Foundation supports the establishment of this professorship.
